Topics and discussion around new CDS best practice targets

Page history last edited by PBworks 14 years, 8 months ago

The CDS Task Force intends to build on the frameworks and approaches developed by the CDS/VTE community to address other specific, pressing performance improvement imperatives facing care providers.  This work is expected to get underway in 2010, and will include online collaborations around sharing, synthesizing, deploying and disseminating best implementation practices.  Its likely that the results of these collaborations will result in publication of additional guidebooks in the HIMSS CDS Guidebook Series.

Please share your comments below on specific topics (e.g. related to core measures, ARRA Meaningful Use issues, etc.) on which such activities should focus.

What is the correlation between awareness of the relationship between Medical Diagnoses AND Nursing Diagnoses with clinical outcomes? For instance, what is the correlation between awareness of the Medical Diagnosis, Gestational Diabetes, relationship with the Nursing Diagnosis, Anxiety r/t self / fetus outcome d/t being told one has Gestational Diabetes, AND Gestational Diabetes outcomes? The relationship between medical and nursing diagnoses is part of the Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: An Evidence-Based Guide to Planning Care by Betty J. Ackley and Gail B. Ladwig. I have no financial connection with this book but am working on using an EMR- based (Praxis EMR) CDS method to have diagnoses cross-correlate betwen the Medical and Nursing professions. So I do have a potential financial gain from having attention paid to this question.
